Great devotion…. Such a vitally important Biblical principal. Stand up for your fellow Christian brothers and sisters and stand up against evilness! Evil prevails when good men do nothing!
If we’re the ones in a battle against evil, we would want others in the battle with us. Yet, we easily become timid and move to the side of compliance… because let’s face it… it’s easier. Except in the long run compliance builds demons, regret, and guilt. Personally, I’ve learned it’s best to face things head on and get it over with. Then I have peace, joy, and contentment in my soul.
This devotion was convicting, but comforting as well!
Have you held up a weary friend’s arm in a battle lately? Most often, we’re not asked to go into battle, just to support those who find themselves in one, by holding up their arms… lifting them up and encouraging them! This is the gospel! I am so thankful that God is always in the battle with us and never leaves us alone. I’m also thankful that God always sends someone to be His hands and feet in the battles of life, often their strangers, or the most unlikely people.
“If God is for us, who can be against us!”
Blessings, Crystal
Exodus 17:8-15 “The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.”
So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.”
Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner. He said, “Because hands were lifted up against the throne of the Lord, the Lord will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation.””
